Today we had to say goodbye to Mr. Wilson.
Even when we know the moment is coming, it never makes it easier. The heart still hopes for more time.
Wilson had Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, often called cat aids, but for many years he lived a strong and healthy life. Only in the last week did we see how quickly he began to decline. His body was tired.
Today we helped him find peace.
Wilson took his final rest in my husband’s arms, surrounded by the people who loved him.
And that matters.
Because if you knew Wilson, you knew he was not just any cat.
He was one of the kindest male cats I have ever experienced.
He had a quiet, gentle nature and a heart bigger than his small body. Even though he was castrated, Wilson would adopt kittens as his own. He washed them, protected them, and slept beside them as if he had always been their father.
Some animals carry a special soul inside them.
Wilson was one of those souls.
He was calm, patient, and loving in a way that felt almost human. A silent guardian in our home.
If you look closely at the photo of him today, resting in the warmth of the house while the island sun reaches 27°C, you can see it in his eyes. That calm wisdom. That peaceful presence.
We knew his time was near.
But knowing never prepares the heart for the moment when the house suddenly feels quieter.
Our home feels different tonight.
Another small star has left the earth.
But love like Wilson gave does not disappear. It stays in the memories, in the other cats he cared for, in the quiet corners where he used to sleep.
Run free now, gentle boy.
Your work here was done, and it was beautiful.
Thank you for choosing our family.
We will miss you, Mr. Wilson. 💔🐾
