Pirate
Pirate
is a word dressed in rebellion.
It smells of salt and wind,
of maps drawn by instinct
instead of permission.
A pirate does not wait
for safe harbours.
She studies the tides,
trusts the stars,
and sails anyway.
Yes, pirates steal—
but sometimes
what they steal back
is freedom.
Freedom from rules
written by those
who never left the shore.
Freedom from quiet obedience.
Freedom from shrinking.
There is a pirate in every woman
who has ever said,
“No more.”
Not reckless—
but unwilling to live
by someone else’s compass.
And on this day of hearts and roses,
perhaps the most romantic act
is this:
To claim your own ship.
To chart your own waters.
To belong to yourself first.
