#RDP | Ragtag Daily Prompt
In response to Martha’s daily Prompt:

Random
Friday the 13th.
Some call it unlucky.
Some avoid ladders.
Some brace for impact
as if the day itself is plotting.
Random, they say.
But history remembers differently.
There was a time when Friday—
named for the goddess,
for the feminine—
was sacred.
There was a time when thirteen
marked cycles,
moons,
the rhythm of the body.
Somewhere along the way,
power was renamed danger.
Wisdom was called witchcraft.
The feminine was labelled ominous.
And now we inherit superstition
without remembering
what was suppressed.
Maybe Friday the 13th
isn’t unlucky.
Maybe it is a quiet celebration
of what refused to disappear.
Still—
I don’t believe everything is scripted.
I don’t believe the universe
is rolling dice with our lives.
We have free will.
We choose how we move
through the day.
Through the diagnosis.
Through the unexpected turn.
Randomness may exist.
Patterns may exist.
But choice exists too.
Friday the 13th isn’t a curse.
It’s a reminder—
what was once feared
can be reclaimed.
And what happens next
is not written in ink,
but in action.
