Spark

A spark doesn’t ask permission.
It appears—
small, brief,
easy to miss.

It isn’t a fire.
Not yet.
It doesn’t promise transformation
or grand endings.

But it changes the dark
just by existing.

I’ve learned to look for sparks
on the hardest days—
a kind word,
a steady breath,
the body choosing to keep going
even when it’s tired.

Some sparks come from pain.
Some from love.
Some arrive after everything else
has burned down.

I don’t need a blaze.
I don’t need certainty.

Just one spark
to remind me
that light still knows my name.
