Snarl

A snarl is not mindless anger.
It is a warning.

Teeth shown
only after boundaries are crossed.
Only after patience has been mistaken
for permission.

I’ve learned the difference
between noise and snarl.
One is chaos.
The other is clarity.

A snarl says:
I see you.
I know what you’re doing.
This is where it stops.

It doesn’t need to bite.
It doesn’t need to explain itself.
It exists so the line is finally visible.

These days,
I don’t fear my snarl.
I trust it.

Because anything worth protecting
deserves a voice
that knows how to bare its teeth.
