Flowerpower, Peace & Rock ’n Roll
I was born in 1970, a little late for the revolution.
The protests were echoes, the vinyl already scratched.
But someone baked the colors anyway—
sun-yellow hope, electric blue peace signs,
flowers thick as promises.
We cut the cake and laughed, frosting on our fingers,
Jimi on the radio like a ghost who never left.
History didn’t end.
It just changed costumes.
Some of us carry the movement quietly—
in sugar, in memory,
in saying yes to joy when the world says no.
