DailyPrompt–1832

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

dailyprompt-1832

Sports have always been part of my life — not just as competition, but as rhythm, discipline, and joy.

My favorite sports to watch are deeply connected to grace and precision:

• Dressage riding
• Show jumping
• Show dancing
• Figure skating, especially freestyle and competitions

To me, these sports are where athleticism meets art. They’re about communication, balance, and trust — between body and mind, horse and rider, music and movement.

As a teenager, I played volleyball for several years. I travelled around the country for competitions and was deeply involved in the sport. I even took the volleyball referee/judge exams, which gave me a whole new respect for the game from a different perspective.

Ice skating was another big part of my youth. I competed every year in local competitions, and one of my proudest moments was placing third in our municipal championships. Skating taught me focus, resilience, and how to fall — and get back up — gracefully.

Later in life, my connection to sports continued through my children. I followed my daughters closely during their years as dressage riders, attending competitions and sharing their dedication and love for horses.

Looking back, I realise sports have always been about more than winning for me.
They’ve been about movement, commitment, community — and the quiet strength built along the way.
