Your challenge for this week

A character receives a letter written in their own handwriting… from ten years in the future.

The envelope was unremarkable.
No stamp. No return address.
Just my name — written the way I always loop the g, the way my hand hesitates before the final letter.

Inside, the paper smelled faintly of dust and rain.

I know you won’t believe this at first, it began,
but check the scar on your wrist. I still have it too.

My breath caught.
I read on.

You’re standing at a crossroads right now. You think you chose wrong. You didn’t. The fear passes. The silence doesn’t last forever. Keep going — especially on the days you feel invisible.

At the bottom was a date.
Ten years from now.

And a signature I recognised better than my own reflection —
steady, older…
finally unafraid.

I folded the letter carefully, my hands no longer shaking.

For the first time in a long while,
the future felt like something waiting for me —
not something I had to survive.
