I Stayed (To Get a Better Look) 🛸
Thursday Inspiration #341 — I Ran (So Far Away)
Jim has given us a man running from a UFO this Thursday.
Well, Jim, I have to admit something.
I don’t think I would run. 😜
I would probably stand there staring at the sky, wondering what on earth I was looking at. And if it started moving in an unusual way, I’d be even more intrigued.
I don’t have to travel far to find stories of mysterious lights, either. Here on Fuerteventura, there are tales of strange lights, including the Luz de Mafasca. I recently came across a programme about mysterious lights on the island, and it brought back a memory of my own.
In late September or early October 2018, my husband and I were taking care of our horse near Triquivijate.
It was around seven in the evening when we both noticed a white, luminous object in the sky.
What caught our attention wasn’t simply that it was bright. It was the way it moved.
It seemed to change speed and direction in a strange, almost bouncy way. We couldn’t hear any sound coming from it.
We stood there watching, trying to make sense of what we were seeing.
Was it something ordinary viewed from an unusual angle? Something in the atmosphere? Something else entirely?
We still don’t know.
And that is the honest answer. We saw something we couldn’t identify, but that doesn’t mean we know what caused it.
What I do know is that I wasn’t frightened.
I was fascinated.
So when Jim offers us A Flock of Seagulls singing I Ran (So Far Away), I have to smile. The song fits his flying-saucer picture beautifully, but my response would probably be the opposite.
Jim’s runner: “I ran, I ran so far away!” 🏃
Me: “Wait! Come back! I have questions!” 👀🛸
Perhaps curiosity would get the better of me. Perhaps, with a closer look, I’d discover a perfectly ordinary explanation.
Either way, I’d want to look a little longer before making up my mind.
Some mysteries make us want to run.
Others make us look up at the sky and remember how much we still have to learn.
And as for that light my husband and I saw over Fuerteventura in 2018?
I’m still curious. 💜
