Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Who and why?

Oh, absolutely!
And I can blame The Vampire Diaries for that. 😂🧛♂️
First, there was Damon Salvatore.
Sarcastic, unpredictable, charming and quite capable of doing something dreadful while delivering a one-liner that made me laugh.
Was he always a good person?
Not even close.
Did I enjoy watching him?
Definitely.
Then, just when I thought the series had given me enough morally questionable characters to keep track of, along came Klaus Mikaelson.
Oh dear. 😂
Klaus could be ruthless, manipulative and terrifying. But he also had a complicated family history, a vulnerable side he rarely wanted anyone to see, and moments when you caught a glimpse of someone very different beneath all that anger.
And that made him fascinating to watch.
I think that’s what I enjoy about a well-written villain.
Not that I agree with what they do, but that they aren’t simply evil for the sake of being evil. They have histories, contradictions, fears and reasons for the choices they make—even when those choices are awful.
Damon and Klaus both had that ability to make me wonder what they would do next.
And let’s be fair…
Neither of them was exactly difficult to look at. 🤭
So yes, in The Vampire Diaries, I sometimes found myself more interested in the villains than the heroes.
Would I want either of them turning up at my front door in real life?
Absolutely not.
I have enough chaos in this house already, thank you very much. Between Bella, the cats and Oscar the tortoise, I don’t need an immortal vampire with centuries of unresolved family drama. 🤣
But on television?
Pass the popcorn. 🍿
