This week my question is:
How does our perspective changes our reality.

Sunday Poser # 303- Reality and our point of view

How Does Our Perspective Change Our Reality?
I think perspective is a little like looking through a window.
The world outside doesn’t necessarily change, but what we notice through that window can.
Two people can experience exactly the same event and walk away carrying completely different stories. One may see failure where another sees a lesson. One sees an ending; another eventually discovers that it was also a beginning.
That doesn’t mean we should paint everything with pretty colours and pretend difficult things aren’t difficult.
Pain is pain.
Loss is loss.
Injustice is injustice.
Changing our perspective doesn’t erase any of those things.
But sometimes it changes what they are allowed to become inside us.
I’ve lived long enough to know that life rarely follows the road we carefully planned. There have been moments I certainly wouldn’t have chosen, and things I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Yet looking backwards, I can sometimes see strength I couldn’t see while I was standing in the middle of them.
Perhaps that’s one of the strangest things about perspective.
From inside the storm, all we can see is the storm.
From farther away, we may finally see the road we travelled through it.
And our perspective can change with age, experience, knowledge, grief, love and even something as simple as having a better day. What looked like the end of the world ten years ago may barely cross our minds today.
I don’t believe changing perspective means telling ourselves, Everything is wonderful.
Sometimes it simply means saying:
This is difficult, but this isn’t all that exists.
There is still love.
There is still laughter.
There is still music.
There is still coffee. ☕
There is still tomorrow.
Reality may give us the landscape.
But perspective often decides where we place the window. 💜
