Three Things Challenge #MM542

Today’s three words:
KEEL • KEEN • KINDER.
On an Even Keel 💜
For years, she had been keen to keep everything under control.
Every problem needed solving.
Every person needed helping.
Every storm needed weathering.
And whenever life knocked her sideways, she simply straightened herself and carried on.
“Keep an even keel,” she would say.
As though she were a ship that could sail through anything without taking on water.
But ships need harbours too.
One morning, she sat quietly with her coffee and realised she was tired.
Not defeated.
Not giving up.
Just tired.
And perhaps keeping an even keel didn’t mean pretending the waves weren’t there.
Perhaps it meant knowing when to lower the sails.
When to stop.
When to rest.
When to allow someone else to hold the wheel for a while.
Most importantly, perhaps it meant becoming a little kinder to herself.
She looked out towards the horizon.
The sea wasn’t perfectly calm.
Neither was she.
But both were still there.
And for today, that was enough. 💜
