September — Day 1
What are you doing this month that you’re looking forward to?
September always feels a little strange here because summer isn’t quite finished when the calendar says it should be.
In a few weeks, my daughters will be going back to school after their long summer holiday.
I’m looking forward to seeing them begin another school year, getting back into their routines and moving forward with their education.
But I also know the house is going to feel very strange.
After having them around throughout the summer, suddenly there will be those hours when they’re both gone and everything is much quieter.
Parents spend part of the summer thinking, When does school start again? 😂
And then they actually go back and we stand there thinking…
Why is the house so quiet? Where did everybody go?
I suppose that’s September for me — looking forward to the new beginning while knowing I’ll probably miss the chaos as soon as it’s gone.
Although, give me a few days.
I might discover that a quiet house, coffee and uninterrupted writing time isn’t too terrible after all.
