If you could relive one day from your past, which day would it be and why?
There are many days I would love to experience again, but one immediately comes to mind.
Christmas Eve, 2003. 🎄❤️
The night my husband proposed to me.
We were celebrating Christmas with his parents when suddenly he went down on one knee.
And my first thought wasn’t:
OH MY GOD, HE’S PROPOSING!
No.
I looked at him and wondered what on earth he was doing on the floor. 😂
My brain immediately went to the fireplace.
Was he putting more wood on the fire?
No… he was much too far away from it.
So why was this man kneeling on the floor? 🤣
He was proposing to me.
His mother started cheering.
His father had suffered a stroke many years earlier and had lost his ability to speak, but he didn’t need words that evening.
He was smiling from ear to ear.
I can still picture that smile.
That’s what makes the memory even more precious.
It wasn’t some perfectly staged proposal with photographers hiding behind furniture or an elaborate plan made for social media.
It was us.
Our family.
Christmas Eve.
A man on one knee…
…and me wondering whether he had somehow forgotten where the fireplace was. 🤣🤣
If I could step into a time machine and relive one day exactly as it happened, I think I’d choose that Christmas Eve.
Not to change anything.
Just to stand inside that moment once more.
To hear his mother cheering.
To see his father’s enormous smile.
And to experience again the moment that became another chapter in the life we were building together. ❤️
Although I’d probably still look at him on the floor and think:
What are you doing down there? 😂
