Day 6 – What part of your personality appeared later in life?
My ability to stand my ground.
It took me until I was over 40 to really find my voice.
For most of my life, I suffered from what I call the “nice girl syndrome.” I wanted everyone to like me, avoided conflict, and often put other people’s needs before my own. Saying “no” felt almost impossible.
Life has a way of teaching us the lessons we need, though.
These days, I’m still kind, caring, and compassionate—but I’ve learned that kindness doesn’t mean allowing people to walk all over you. Setting boundaries isn’t selfish; it’s an act of self-respect.
I’d much rather be known as someone with a kind heart and a strong backbone than someone who sacrifices herself just to keep the peace.
Growing older hasn’t hardened me.
It has simply taught me my own worth. 💜
