Windstorm

Windstorm.
The sky changing mood without warning.
Winds rising. Windows shaking. The world outside suddenly louder than usual.
Living on an island in the Atlantic—
we learn to respect the wind.
Most days it dances.
Moves sand. Carries salt through the air. Reminds us we live close to nature.
But sometimes—
the wind arrives angry.
Storms flooding roads. Homes damaged. Paths broken.
In March, Storm Theresa left its mark.
The worst, they said, in a hundred years.
Roads still waiting to be repaired. Longer journeys. Small reminders that storms do not always leave when the rain stops.
And yet—
islanders learn resilience.
We rebuild. We adapt. We take the longer road if we must.
Because storms—
whether in weather or in life—
may bend us,
but they do not always break us.
With love
