When Words Collide! Friday Challenge

Sherlock Holmes frowned at the glittering object resting on the velvet cushion.
“One shoe,” he muttered. “An impossible escape, no footprints, and witnesses insisting pumpkins transformed into transport. Watson, this may be my most absurd case yet.”
Across the room, Cinderella lifted her teacup with a knowing smile.
“Mr. Holmes,” she said softly, “not everything extraordinary is impossible. Sometimes people only believe what fits neatly into reason.”
Holmes adjusted his coat, studying her carefully.
“And sometimes,” he replied, “people hide the truth behind stories because the truth itself sounds unbelievable.”
For the first time that morning, Cinderella laughed.
“You and I,” she said, “may understand each other better than expected.”
