Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

Sometimes love doesn’t come softly.
Sometimes…it stands up, draws a line, and says enough.
For me,that was my husband.
He saw what I had grown used to—what I had learned to endure.
The way my mother’s drinking turned into something else…something heavy, something harmful.
Not just for me—but for our children.
And he couldn’t stand by and watch it happen.
He didn’t try to control me. He didn’t force a decision.
He simply made something clear
That I deserved better. That our children deserved better.
He said it was my choice how I wanted to keep contact—
but he would not allow our children to be around that environment.
That moment…changed something in me.
Because for the first time, I saw it from the outside.
Not as something I had to survive—but as something I could walk away from.
And I did.
She chose the bottle.I chose peace.
It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t without grief.
But it was necessary.
I haven’t had contact for 14 years.
Sad…but also freeing.
And maybe that’s the most powerful thing someone has ever done for me—
he showed me that I didn’t have to stay where I was being broken.
