Today’s Word: Gender
In response to Alice DeForest word prompt:

Gender
Before we are even born,
the world begins to decide for us.
Blue or pink.
Boy or girl.
Cars or dolls.
Boxes waiting
before we take our first breath.
Gender is often presented
as something fixed—
a label,
a role,
a set of expectations.
But human beings
are far more complex than that.
We are not only colours.
Not only interests.
Not only what society assigns.
A child reaches for what feels right—
not what they are told to like.
And maybe that is where truth lives.
In instinct.
In curiosity.
In freedom.
Gender, at its core,
should not be a limitation.
It should not confine
or restrict expression.
It should allow space—
for identity,
for growth,
for individuality.
Because before labels,
before expectations,
before categories—
we are simply human.
