Summary
A word teachers loved in school.
“Summarize the story.”
“Write the summary of the chapter.”
Reduce everything to a few sentences.
But life refuses to be summarized so neatly.
How do you summarize a week where rain flooded the house?
Mud over the floor.
Buckets lined up like soldiers.
Daughters moving silently through the chaos.
A bedridden husband watching the storm through tired eyes.
How do you summarize the strength that appears automatically when crisis arrives?
The system runs:
Stabilize.
Protect.
Endure.
No time for reflection while the storm is happening.
But now the water has pulled back.
The floor is drying.
The clouds are moving on.
The house still stands.
If I had to write a summary of this week, it would not be about the storm.
It would be about what remained standing after it.
The house.
The family.
And the quiet resilience that shows up every time life decides to test us.
Some summaries are not written with words.
They are written in survival.
