Today’s Word: Fat Cat
In response to Alice DeForest word prompt:

A “fat cat” isn’t really about a cat.
It’s about excess.
Privilege.
Power wrapped in comfort.
The phrase usually points to someone wealthy —
someone insulated from consequence,
well-fed while others struggle.
It carries criticism.
A raised eyebrow.
A quiet accusation.
But words are interesting things.
A cat itself is independent.
Observant.
Patient.
Perhaps the problem isn’t wealth.
Perhaps it’s detachment.
Forgetting what it means
to live without cushions.
“Fat cat” reminds us that imbalance
is always noticed.
That too much for one
often means too little for another.
And maybe the real question is not
who sits comfortably —
but who pays the cost of that comfort.
