Dull is often misunderstood.
It is called boring.
Lifeless.
Without spark.
But dull can also mean softened—
edges no longer sharp enough
to wound.
There have been seasons
when everything felt dull—
colours muted,
sound distant,
energy drained to a quiet hum.
Not dramatic.
Not broken.
Just dimmed.
I have learned
that dull is sometimes
a form of recovery.
After the blaze,
after the storm,
after the sharpness of survival—
there is a gentle flattening.
A pause.
And in that pause,
strength gathers again.
Not everything must shine
to be alive.
