Creative Expressions – Where My Voice Lives
If I had to capture the same idea in writing, sculpture, and painting, each would breathe differently.
Writing is intimate.
It slips past the surface and goes straight to the pulse. Words allow me to unravel thought, to linger in nuance, to whisper and roar in the same paragraph. Writing is where I process, where I descend like a stepwell into memory and meaning.
Painting feels slower. More physical.
It demands presence. Color holds emotion differently than language. A brushstroke can say what a paragraph cannot — but it requires surrender to silence. I have dabbled with painting over the last twelve years, and when I paint, I feel less analytical, more instinctive.
Photography is memory arrested.
In my teenage years, I had my own darkroom. I loved black and white — the way light and shadow told a story without distraction. Black and white strips life down to contrast. It feels honest. Raw. Timeless.
But what surprised me most…
was lyric writing.
Last year something shifted.
Lyrics arrived differently than poems. They carried rhythm in their bones. They wanted to be sung, not just read. I didn’t expect that part of me — the way melody would shape emotion in ways prose never could. It felt like discovering a new room in a house I thought I knew.
If I had to choose one medium to leave a message for future generations, it would be writing.
Because writing survives translation.
It travels across time without losing its core.
It allows someone, somewhere, decades from now, to feel the exact tremor of a moment.
Though… a black and white photograph beside it wouldn’t hurt.
Emotion is strongest where the creator feels safest — and for me, that is language.
But I am learning that sometimes, stepping outside comfort is not expansion. It is remembering another voice you always had.
