Ringleader
Step right up.
The lights are too bright,
the drums too loud,
the lions restless behind their gates.
And there—
in the centre ring—
stands the ringleader.
Coat sharp.
Hat steady.
Voice carrying over chaos.
The crowd thinks it’s about spectacle.
Fire hoops.
Tightropes.
Illusions spun into applause.
But the ringleader knows better.
They watch everything.
The trembling hands of the acrobat.
The timing of the music.
The way one small mistake
can turn wonder into disaster.
To lead the circus
is not to enjoy the spotlight.
It is to hold the rhythm
when the elephants panic,
when the clowns forget their cues,
when the crowd begins to doubt.
Life can feel like a travelling circus—
noise, drama, unpredictable acts.
Someone has to stand in the centre
and keep the show moving.
Not for glory.
Not for control.
But because walking away
would let the whole tent collapse.
Sometimes the ringleader
is simply the one
who refuses to leave the ring.
