I often wonder about my origin —
where my ideas begin,
where my habits formed,
and who taught me to overthink absolutely everything.

My outlook depends heavily on the day,
the weather,
and whether I’ve had coffee
(or accidentally skipped it).

Some days I feel wise and expansive.
Other days I judge my entire life
based on the state of my hair.

As for the outer world —
it keeps spinning,
asking questions,
and offering opinions
whether I’m ready or not.

So I do my best:
honour where I came from,
adjust my outlook when it needs kindness,
and remember that the outer noise
doesn’t get to narrate my story.

That job’s already taken —
