Luxury
Luxury is not gold-threaded towels
or rooms that echo with excess.
Luxury is a day when pain loosens its grip,
when my body grants me permission
to breathe out
without bracing for the next wave.
Luxury is quiet.
Not the kind that feels empty,
but the kind that listens back.
It is coffee held in both hands,
warmth seeping through ceramic and skin,
the sun finding my face
as if it knew exactly where to land.
Luxury is a nervous system
that stands down for a while.
A moment without vigilance.
A body not at war with itself.
Some days, that is everything.
