against nerves that flare
and glands that ache.
They bring light in quiet ways —
not the blinding kind,
but the steady glow of coping,
of knowing what helps,
of listening to a body that speaks loudly
even when words fail.
Some people carry keys,
phones,
coins.
I carry citrus and courage.
Proof that survival
is often practical,
sweet,
and a little sour.
And still —
there is light.
Even here.
