Arms are not only what we hold with.
They are what we stand with.
There is a quiet brotherhood—
and sisterhood—
formed not by blood,
but by shared responsibility.
Army. Police. Ambulance. Fire.
Different uniforms.
Same promise.
To step forward
when others step back.
To run toward danger
with steady hands
and a racing heart.
They speak of brothers in arms,
but I see sisters too—
strong, focused, learning how to carry
more than equipment.
My youngest daughter is training to become a paramedic,
an ambulance driver,
learning how to hold lives in her hands
on the worst days of someone else’s story.
Arms that lift.
Arms that shield.
Arms that reach through chaos
and say:
You’re not alone.
This is what arms mean to me—
not weapons,
but willingness.
And that kind of courage
wraps itself around the world
when it’s breaking.
