“Healing the mind is how we save the soul.”
I share this reflection — for Liam, for the healers, for all of us learning to breathe again
Today my youngest daughter received a message from her school:
> “Hoy, 10 de octubre, celebramos el Día Mundial de la Salud Mental…”
A reminder that over 100 countries unite today to speak openly about emotional well-being, to break the silence, and to create spaces of empathy and healing.
She’s training to be a paramedic — learning to steady her hands in chaos, to breathe through urgency, and to listen beyond words.
It made me think of all the people who walk unseen through their own emergencies — quiet, internal ones — where there’s no siren, no ambulance, only endurance.
And then I thought of Liam.
He spoke so openly about the darkness fame brought him.
> “There’s times where that level of loneliness and people getting into you every day… just every so often, you’re like, when will this end?
That’s almost nearly killed me a couple of times.”
He tried — again and again — to find his balance.
He entered rehab in Louisiana in 2023 for 100 days, working hard to heal his mind and spirit.
Liam lived with ADHD since childhood — something he called both a challenge and a gift.
But the world rarely makes space for that kind of vulnerability, especially in the music industry.
Mental health shouldn’t depend on fame, fortune, or silence.
It should depend on care, compassion, and access to help.
💜 Maybe one day, there will be “Liam’s Law.”
A law that protects young artists and creators — ensuring they have real mental health support, safe mentors, and time to breathe between the noise.
Until then, we can be the change.
We can speak gently.
Listen more.
And remember that those who shine the brightest often carry the deepest shadows.
> “The strongest people are not always the people who win, but the people who don’t give up when they lose.”
