The Courage to Begin
This week let’s write a poem inspired by this quote from Amelia Earhart,
“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”

The Courage to Begin
Courage does not always
arrive with thunder.
Sometimes
it comes as a whisper
beneath the noise of fear.
A quiet voice
asking,
What if you tried?
We stand before
the unknown,
counting every reason
to remain
where we are.
The road looks endless,
the mountains too high,
the storms too fierce.
And yet—
something inside us
refuses to surrender.
So we take
that first trembling step.
Not because
we are fearless,
but because
we have decided
that fear
will no longer
hold the pen
that writes our story.
And then comes tenacity.
The stubborn courage
to rise after falling,
to keep walking
when the road disappears,
to believe in tomorrow
even when today
has tested every piece
of our strength.
For the greatest journeys
do not begin
with certainty.
They begin
with a decision.
One breath.
One step.
One moment
when the soul whispers,
I am not finished yet.
And suddenly,
the impossible
has somewhere
to begin.
