Four Years, a Lifetime of Love 🐾💜

Some souls have a habit of entering our life for only a short while, yet leaving behind a lifetime of love.
Amy was one of those souls.
Her full name was Citadel Anubis Amy, a Basenji with enough charm and mischief to keep an entire household entertained.
She was thorough in everything she did, especially escaping her puppy box. Once her siblings had left for their new homes, Amy apparently decided it was time to move on too.
No need to chart an escape route. Just climb over! 🤣
She could cast one innocent look in our direction, and we would forget whatever trouble she’d caused.
But my fondest memory is of her devotion to the children, especially Maddie.
Amy would never settle for simply watching from a distance. She was their self-appointed guardian.
Even though Basenjis are notoriously wary of water, Amy would venture into it to protect the children from falling in.
And she could certainly amuse us with her fearless attitude. At three months old, she even tried to take on a venomous adder!
All that courage packed into a little furry fist of determination.
Sadly, Amy’s journey ended when she was only four years old, after a tick bite and a stroke.
Four years. Far too little time.
Yet love isn’t measured in years.
It’s measured in the moments we carry with us.
And somewhere in my heart, a little Basenji is still climbing over her puppy box, ready for her next adventure. ❤️🐾
Some pawprints never fade.
