The Smallest Kindness
One child sat quietly on the pavement,the other stood beside a little tricycle.
No one was counting who owned what.No one was keeping score.
There was only a question hanging in the air—
“Do you want a turn?”
Childhood speaks a language that adults too often forget.
A shared toy. A scraped knee. A giggle that needs no translation.
Before life teaches us about status, pride, and division,
we simply see another child who might need a friend.
Perhaps growing up isn’t about becoming someone new.
Perhaps it’s remembering the kindness we knew before the world told us to be careful with it.
