Today’s word is toss.

The Daily Spur

Toss.

Such a careless-sounding word.

A coin tossed
into the air.
A letter tossed aside.
A memory tossed into old boxes 
we promise to open someday.

Life tosses us too.

Between hope and heartbreak.
Between staying and letting go.

Some days it feels as though the universe simply throws us into storms without warning.

And yet—
there is another kind of toss.

The playful one.
A child tossing laughter across a room.
Hair tossed wildly by ocean wind.
Flower petals tossed into celebrations
and goodbyes.

Maybe the word itself is trying to remind us that not everything we release is lost.

Some things
must leave our hands
before they can
find the sky.
