The images below are from a stay we had in Valparasio, Chile some years ago. If you choose the optional prompt, choose one of these images to motivate your creativity today.

Interzone Painter

He sits where walls remember—between plaster and pulse, between outline and the hand that refuses to stay still.

His palette spills like a secret too bright to hide, colors breaking through a life sketched in black.

Above him—history rides past on borrowed horses, ghosts of conquest fading into dust.

Beside him—a box learns to dance, legs scribbled into being, joy wired into concrete.

And still, he paints.

Not the world as it is,but as it insists on becoming—layered, interrupted, alive.

Perhaps he is not seated at all,but anchored—holding color in place so it does not escape the city’s dreaming walls.

So very glad you used this image! I was fascinated by it. And you’ve surely done it more than justice. I am most smitten by these lines:

    “And still, he paints.
Not the world as it is, but as it insists on becoming—layered, interrupted, alive.
Perhaps he is not seated at all, but anchored—holding color in place so it does not escape the city’s dreaming walls.”

And isn’t that the reality of street painters? They sit, and stand, and paint where walls remember!

Hope to have you drop by our live session on Saturday the 11th! The more the merrier!

‘His palette spills like a secret too bright to hide, colors breaking through a life sketched in black’

    ‘And still, he paints.
Not the world as it is, but as it insists on becoming—layered, interrupted, alive.’
