#279 | what’s your IQ

Intelligence or Hard Work?

When I was training as a children’s nurse, we had to take several tests, including assessments of intelligence.

But for me, emotional intelligence matters far more.

I’ve met many people who are academically intelligent, yet struggle with empathy, awareness, and understanding others. It’s like their social antennas are slightly bent — they can process information, but not always connection.

To me, success is not built on intelligence alone. It’s a combination of awareness, kindness, resilience, and yes — hard work.

Emotional intelligence shapes how we treat others, how we respond to life, and how we grow through our experiences. Without it, intelligence can feel incomplete.

In the end, it’s not just about how much you know —
but how you understand, feel, and relate.

Absolutely! You can pile all the knowledge and concepts in the world into a person’s brain but if they can’t independently apply it to “real life”, they’re “dumb as rocks”. ;-)
