Story Chat Digest

The 6th of January, something quietly meaningful happened.
My short story, The Feather That Found Its Way Home, was published as part of Story Chat Digest 2026 on Marsha Ingrao’s Always Write blog. I shared it with a mixture of excitement and nerves — unsure how it might land, or if it would be noticed at all.
What followed surprised me.
Readers I didn’t know took time to read slowly, reflect deeply, and share their own experiences — with grief, healing, writing, feathers, and the gentle act of returning to self. The comments felt less like critique and more like conversation. Less like judgment and more like recognition.
Story Chat is exactly that — a space where stories are not rushed past, but sat with. Where words are allowed to breathe, and where meaning unfolds through dialogue rather than certainty.
For me, writing has become a way back to myself, especially in seasons of change and caregiving. Seeing that reflected in others — sometimes in ways I didn’t expect — reminded me why I write at all. Not to explain, but to connect.

I’m grateful to Marsha for creating such a thoughtful, welcoming space, and to everyone who read, commented, or simply paused with the story for a moment.
Sometimes, that’s enough.
