Esther Chilton’s Writing Prompt: CLASSIC

28 October 2026

Some Things Never Grow Old

They call it classic when the years have passed,
When something beautiful was built to last.
A melody, a story, a familiar refrain,
That takes us back through time again.

From Vivaldi’s strings to a pounding beat,
To dancing all night on tired feet.
The nineties called, and I answered with pride,
With Mr. Vain playing, I was ready to ride!

A classic film, a favourite book,
An old photograph deserves another look.
A thousand memories, both laughter and tears,
Treasures collected throughout the years.

Some classics hang in galleries grand,
Some come from a poet’s trembling hand.
Others are songs that refuse to fade,
Or precious memories that time has made.

And growing older? Well, here’s the twist,
We’re becoming classics on somebody’s list!
A little more vintage, perhaps a touch rare,
But still with the music and plenty of flair.

So turn up the volume, let the memories flow,
Dance like we did all those years ago.
For age is a number, but joy is fantastic—

And darling, we’re not getting old. We’re becoming classic!

💜

Thank you so much, Esther! 💜 Haha, Mr. Vain was one of my favourites back in my DJ days in the 90s! Those were the days when the dance floors were packed and the music kept us going all night. I couldn’t resist adding the YouTube video. Some classics are simply too good to forget! 🎶
