For dVerse Poets Pub – Where Laura is our host.
Recently the WordPress ‘On This day’ alert, dug out a poem I wrote in 2021 “A Third October” based on an MTB prompt that Björn gave us then, which gave me the idea to revisit “The Cadralor” after these 5 years.
The Cadralor is a hybridised name from the 2 inventors, Lori Howe and Christopher Cadra
Poetry Style 5 numbered stanzas choose 3-10 lines per stanza (but keep same chosen stanza length throughout)
each stanza stands alone as an imagist poem (just the obliquest of connections)
5th stanza pulls the 4 unrelated stanzas together into a poem of love, of yearning
rhymes and syllabic meter are NOT wanted

Where the Heart Keeps Its Seasons
A Cadralor for dVerse Poets
1.
Autumn settles over Norwegian mountains,
golden birches trembling beside a lake.
Mist rises from the dark water,
and an abandoned wooden cabin
holds the scent of yesterday’s fire.
2.
Along a volcanic shore,
the Atlantic gathers broken shells.
A single white feather
rests between two black stones,
untouched by the returning tide.
3.
An old piano stands beside a window,
its ivory keys softened by moonlight.
An unfinished melody
lingers between the notes,
waiting for a hand to return.
4.
Beyond a candlelit window,
a thousand stars scatter across the sky.
An owl calls from the darkness,
and the evening wind
carries the fragrance of distant rain.
5.
I have loved you in every season—
in mountain mist, across restless oceans,
through melodies that never found their ending.
And beneath these same familiar stars,
my heart still leaves a light on for you.
