A Slight Overreaction

I sighed so heavily
the curtains surrendered.
The cat filed a formal complaint.
Birds abandoned the island.
Three neighboring countries felt the emotional disturbance.
I cried once
and the ocean rose two inches.
My to-do list became sentient,
judged me openly,
then burst into flames out of sheer despair.
I drank one cup of coffee and briefly achieved telepathy.
The moon itself stopped mid-orbit to watch me overthink a text message.
By evening
I had survived seventeen tragedies,
four existential crises,
and one
missing sock.
Honestly,
I deserve a medal for making it through Monday.
