What the Wolf Knows

The wolf does not ask to be seen.

It moves
with the knowing of others beating
beside it—
heart to heart,
step to step.

No crown,
no need to
stand above.

Only this:
to belong
without possession.

It listens
to the space between sounds,
to the breath of
the pack
before its own.

There is strength
here—
not in dominance,
but in devotion.

To follow
when another leads.
To lead
when the
moment calls.

To never forget
you are one
among many.

And still—
entire.

With love
— Maggie

Wonderful. You truly embodied the natural instinct of the wolf, proving why it was such a perfect representation of humility. Love this….

    ” It listens
    to the space between sounds,
    to the breath of
    the pack
    before its own.”

I love the pace of your poem, Maggie, slow and steady like the wolf, the way it reflects the ‘space between sounds’, and these lines especially:

    ‘It moves
with the knowing of others beating
    beside it—
    heart to heart,
    step to step.’

The overall message is key: ‘never forget you are one among many.’

Wolves mate for life. They’re great teachers. Better at leadership than too any humans.
