In response to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge: https://wp.me/pfZzxd-ukz

Smog
is not created in a moment.
It builds.
Layer by layer.
Particle by particle.
Until the air itself no longer feels clear.
You can still see—
but not fully.
Still breathe—
but not deeply.
Everything
becomes muted.
Distant.
Blurred.
And what once
felt open
begins to feel…uncertain.
But smog
is not only in the sky.
Sometimes,
it settles within.
Unspoken thoughts.
Unreleased emotions.
Moments we carried but never cleared.
They gather.
Quietly.
Slowly.
Until clarity fades—
and we wonder
why everything feels heavier than it should.
Why we cannot see
as clearly as before.
Why the light
feels dimmed.
But here is the truth
Smog
is not permanent.
It may linger—
but it can lift.
With time.
With awareness.
With a shift
in what we allow
to remain.
Because beneath the haze…
nothing was lost.
Only hidden.
Waiting
to be seen again.
