Fandango’s Story Starter | 14.04.2026
In response to Fandango’s Story Starter: https://wp.me/pfZzxd-ulE
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
He was at a crossroads and whichever path he chose would ruin someone’s life.

The Cost of Choosing
He was at a crossroads and whichever path he chose would ruin someone’s life.
There was no drama to the moment.
No raised voices. No clock ticking loudly in the background. Just a quiet office, a file on the desk, and a decision that refused to become simple no matter how many times he turned it over in his mind.
On one side, truth.
Clear. Documented. Impossible to ignore once seen.
On the other, consequence.
Not abstract. Not distant. Real faces. Real lives that would fracture the moment the truth was spoken aloud.
He leaned back in his chair, staring at nothing in particular. He had always believed that truth was the right path. The only path.
But belief is easier when it isn’t tested.
The file in front of him held more than facts. It held a future. One that would change shape depending on what he chose to do next.
He thought of the people involved — not as names on paper, but as moments. Laughter. Arguments. Ordinary days that didn’t yet know they were standing on the edge of something irreversible.
There was no outcome here that left everything intact.
That was the part no one prepared you for.
Not every crossroads offers a right and a wrong.
Sometimes it offers two kinds of loss.
He closed the file slowly.
For a long moment, he didn’t move.
Then, with a quiet exhale, he reached for his pen.
Not because he was certain.
But because standing still had already become its own kind of choice.
