When Luck Turned Visible
The first person to notice was old Mr. Doyle.
He stepped outside his bakery on St. Patrick’s Day morning and froze, flour still on his hands.
Floating above the street were tiny sparks of green light.
At first he thought it was pollen or dust catching the sun.
But when one drifted close, he saw it clearly.
A small glowing clover.
It drifted gently from the sky and settled onto a passing cyclist’s shoulder before dissolving like mist.
Within minutes the town was buzzing.
Luck was everywhere.
Clusters of shimmering shamrocks hovered over the café where friends laughed too loudly.
Golden threads curled around the hospital doors where a new baby had just been born.
A warm glow followed the old bus driver who never missed a morning route.
But the most surprising thing?
Luck wasn’t rare.
It filled the town like invisible rain finally made visible.
Tiny sparks hovered over strangers holding doors open for each other.
They clung to the hands of children helping their grandparents cross the street.
Even the quiet woman who walked alone every morning had a soft halo of green light drifting behind her like fireflies.
By afternoon, people stopped searching for four-leaf clovers in the grass.
They realised something unexpected.
Luck had never lived in the ground.
It lived in the moments we gave each other without thinking.
And on that St. Patrick’s morning, when luck finally became visible,
the whole town discovered
they had been rich all along.
