Waiting

Some days feel suspended, as if the world itself is pausing between breaths. I watch the horizon from my window and think of all the moments when hope arrived quietly, only to slip away again. We tell ourselves patience is wisdom, that time will bend eventually toward the things we ask for. Yet there are seasons when the silence grows heavier than faith. I remember reading the line: “It all belies Our existence; we wait, and are still denied.” The words linger like a tide that refuses to turn. Perhaps waiting is not empty after all, but a kind of shaping, the slow carving of endurance inside the heart.

Beautifully written! I feel those days, too–the waiting.

“Perhaps waiting is not empty after all, but a kind of shaping, . . .” Perhaps it is. 💙

Maggie, I agonize over how and if to wait a lot these days. You put words to my anxiety.

You captured that feeling so well, Maggie, of feeling ‘suspended, as if the world itself is pausing between breaths’. I agree that ‘waiting is not empty after all, but a kind of shaping’. People are too impatient these days and demand everything at once. Since retiring, I’ve learnt to slow down, look and listen.

I agree you capture this moment in time perfectly especially with that opening line. I do hope we can carve some endurance into our hearts to get over this moment. Beautiful writing.

The word, endurance to me has quality of hardening to it. I do not want to harden to what is happening. I do not want the repetition of wrong to become the norm.

My belief is as long we are conscious about it, half the work is done ♥️💜
