In response to Bart’s prompt:
Write a poem about winter storm

Storm Ledger
A winter storm arrives unbidden—
not with anger, but
with the hush of falling feathers
and the way it stills sound,
as if the world pressed pause
to listen.
Wind unravels rooftops,
writing its grammar on bare trees.
Snow accumulates like remembered regrets,
each flake a soft reminder
of warmth not yet lost.
We sit with mugs
and the faint glow from outside,
watching the storm unfold
like quiet reckoning.
Footsteps outside become whispers.
Breath becomes visible,
a small prayer in cold air.
In the hush, we understand—
there is grace here too:
every storm ends,
every storm changes us,
and snow is forgiveness
beneath weary feet.
