CORD

A cord is not just a thing you see.
It is something you feel.

Invisible lines tying moments together—
past to present,
heart to memory,
love to loss.

Some cords nourish.
They carry warmth, truth, belonging.
Others tighten slowly,
until you forget you can breathe without them.

I’ve learned to listen to the pull.

Not every cord is meant to be cut.
Some are meant to be loosened,
redefined,
allowed to stretch as we grow.

And some—
the deepest ones—
are never physical at all.

They exist beyond distance,
beyond time,
beyond explanation.

I honour the cords that steady me now.
The ones that connect without constricting.
The ones that remind me
I am held—
not bound.
