If you could switch lives with a famous person for a week, who would it be and why?
Oh, that’s an easy one!
LADY GAGA! 🎶
One whole week living the life of Mother Monster?
YES, PLEASE!
Although I suspect she’d have a few questions when she returned to find out what I’d been doing.
I’ve loved Lady Gaga’s music for years.
Her creativity, her incredible voice, her theatrical performances and her ability to move between musical genres have always fascinated me.
Pop, dance, electronic music, jazz, classical influences…
She doesn’t seem particularly interested in staying inside one musical box.
And neither am I!
Well, except for jazz.
That’s never really been my cup of coffee.
But imagine having access to her recording studio for an entire week!
I’d be in heaven.
I’d want to see how her songs develop, from the first idea to the finished recording.
How does she decide which melody works?
How does she build the atmosphere of a song?
What happens when the lyrics and music finally come together?
As someone who writes lyrics and creates music myself, I’d find that absolutely fascinating.
And then there’s the stage!
Oh, imagine standing in front of thousands of people, surrounded by lights, dancers and powerful music.
Feeling the bass vibrating through the floor.
Hearing the audience singing along.
Experiencing that incredible connection between an artist and the people listening.
I’d probably be standing there thinking:
DJEZES! THIS IS A LOT BIGGER THAN MY LIVING ROOM!
Of course, I’d also want to explore her wardrobe.
Not necessarily to wear everything.
Although…
Give me a pair of spectacular boots, something purple and a dramatic cape, and we might have a problem getting me out of there.
But what interests me most isn’t the fame or the luxury.
It’s the creativity.
The opportunity to experience how someone with such an extraordinary artistic imagination works.
I’d love to spend time with the musicians, producers, songwriters and dancers who help bring those ideas to life.
And perhaps I’d learn something new to bring back to my own music.
Because even after all these years, I still love learning.
Now, there is one small problem.
While I’m enjoying my week as Lady Gaga…
Lady Gaga would apparently be living MY life.
Welcome to Fuerteventura, darling!
First, there’s the morning coffee.
Non-negotiable.
Then there are the cats.
Five of them.
Each with their own opinion about how the household should be managed.
Bella will supervise everything.
And if you’re missing a shoe, don’t bother looking in the wardrobe.
Ask the dog.
Oscar the tortoise might also take a particular interest in your footwear.
Especially if it’s black.
Don’t ask.
Just keep walking.
And if the weather forecast mentions calima, close the windows!
Seriously.
CLOSE THEM!
Because the Saharan dust has absolutely no respect for celebrity status.
Now, Gaga, while you’re there, perhaps you could have a listen to my music.
You’ll find it under The Afterlove Voice.
And if you happen to discover a song called Arena 51 – The Alien Invasion Remix…
No, that’s not a spelling mistake.
Well, technically it started as one.
But we’ve moved beyond that now.
Actually, imagine Lady Gaga returning after a week and saying:
“I think I’ve just found the strangest inspiration for my next album.”
Meanwhile, I’d be returning from her life with a notebook full of songwriting ideas, a head full of melodies and possibly a rather extravagant purple outfit.
Would I want to stay famous?
No, thank you.
I enjoy my quiet life, my family, my animals and my peaceful moments beneath the stars.
But one week experiencing that level of musical creativity?
Absolutely!
And perhaps the greatest lesson I’d bring home would be a reminder that creativity has no age limit.
There’s always something new to explore.
Something new to learn.
And another song waiting to be written.
I’d borrow Lady Gaga’s life for a week, not to become someone else, but to return home with even more inspiration to be myself.
Now, if you’ll excuse me…
I need to find out whether Mother Monster has survived her first encounter with Bella.
