What is your most cherished personal ritual when you need to bring quiet peace back to your mind?

For me, it’s meditation and grounding. 💜

Something I’ve practised for many years, and something that has become an important part of my everyday life.

When life becomes overwhelming, when my thoughts are racing or when the world simply feels too noisy, I need a little time to reconnect with myself.

Not necessarily hours.

Sometimes just a few minutes can make a difference.

I often meditate in the morning, before getting out of bed.

I close my eyes, focus on my breathing and slowly become aware of my body.

How am I feeling?

Where am I holding tension?

What do I need today?

I don’t try to force my thoughts to disappear.

I simply allow them to pass without following every single one.

Because, believe me, my brain can be a very busy place!

One moment I’m thinking about something I need to do.

The next, a song lyric appears.

Then an idea for a poem.

And before I know it, I’m mentally rearranging an entire musical composition.

Excuse me, brain. We’re supposed to be meditating!

But that’s part of the practice too.

Learning to return to the present moment without becoming frustrated with myself.

I also love grounding myself in nature.

Feeling the earth beneath my feet.

Listening to the wind.

Watching the clouds drift across the sky.

And sometimes simply sitting quietly on my terrace, looking towards the mountains.

Living on Fuerteventura gives me the opportunity to enjoy those peaceful moments away from the noise of busy towns and crowds.

And at night…

Oh, the night sky. ✨

There’s something incredibly calming about sitting beneath the stars.

Looking up at that enormous universe and remembering how small our everyday worries can seem when compared with everything surrounding us.

Sometimes I just sit there.

No phone.

No conversation.

No expectations.

Just me, the night sky and the silence.

And then there’s music. 🎶

Music has always been one of my ways of finding balance.

Depending on how I’m feeling, I might listen to something gentle and relaxing, a beautiful classical composition or a song that speaks to whatever is happening inside me.

Other times, I sit down with my own instruments or start working on a melody.

Creating music can become its own form of meditation.

A way of turning emotions into something meaningful.

Writing does much the same for me.

Sometimes putting my thoughts into words helps me understand feelings I haven’t quite managed to untangle.

And sometimes I don’t need to understand everything.

I just need to let it out.

Of course, there are days when finding peace is a little more challenging.

Between family responsibilities, hospital appointments, animals and everyday life, quiet moments don’t always arrive on schedule.

And occasionally, just as I’m settling into a beautiful meditation…

Bella decides that something extremely suspicious is happening outside.

WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

🤣🐶

Inner peace temporarily interrupted.

But that’s life.

Peace doesn’t mean everything around us has to be perfectly silent.

It means learning how to find a little stillness within ourselves, even when the world keeps moving.

I’ve learned that I cannot control everything life throws my way.

But I can choose to pause.

To breathe.

To ground myself.

And to return to the present moment.

For me, meditation isn’t about escaping reality.

It’s about finding the strength and calm to return to it.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what I need.

Peace isn’t always found in a place where nothing happens. Sometimes it’s found in the quiet moment when we stop fighting the noise and begin listening to ourselves.
