Welcome to another edition of Fibbing Friday!
This week, we’re matching song titles with performers. Unfortunately, the record company has lost its entire artist database, so I’ve had to improvise.
As a former DJ, I can assure you that none of these artists would have survived my dance floor in the 1990s.
1. For Whom the Bell Tolls
The village church caretaker, who has been ringing the bell for forty years and still doesn’t know who’s supposed to answer.
2. Knock Three Times
A very impatient woodpecker who refuses to use the doorbell because he considers himself a professional percussionist.
3. Lyin’ Eyes
My dog, Bella, whenever someone asks who stole the socks.
Those innocent eyes fool absolutely nobody.
4. Pink Cadillac
A flamingo who won the lottery, bought a vintage Cadillac and now drives around Miami wearing oversized sunglasses.
5. If You Leave Me Now
My coffee cup, singing desperately as I walk away to answer the telephone.
Don’t worry, darling. I’ll be back.
6. Fool If You Think It’s Over
The washing machine, five minutes after announcing that the cycle has finished, only to begin spinning again.
7. I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten…
A terrified passenger sitting beside me while I’m trying to reverse into a ridiculously narrow parking space.
8. Money, Money, Money
The electricity generator, demanding another expensive refill just when I thought the household budget was safe.
9. White Rabbit
A rabbit who accidentally fell into a bag of flour and is now pretending to be the Easter Bunny’s more sophisticated cousin.
10. I Don’t Wanna Play House
A little girl who has decided that dolls are boring and would much rather drive a tractor, build a castle and become the queen of the dinosaurs.
And that concludes this week’s musical extravaganza!
Ten unforgettable performances, absolutely no talent required, and a DJ who has probably been banned from every respectable radio station in Europe.
