Sunday Whirl – Wordle #778

11 October 2026

Finding My Anchor in the Chaos ☕🐿️💜

Sometimes life seems to run on autopilot.

We wake up, follow our routines, take care of responsibilities, and before we know it, another day has disappeared.

But every now and then, something happens that reminds us to enjoy the moment.

For me, it might be a beautiful sunset, a favourite song, or simply sitting with my coffee while the world wakes up.

And then there are those moments when life decides to throw a squirrel into the equation.

Quite literally, in my case! 😂

Living in the countryside on Fuerteventura, we actually have squirrels around our home.

And Bella, our four-legged security officer, has appointed herself head of squirrel surveillance.

Over the years, she has chased them more times than I can count.

Thankfully, we now have a proper fence around our patio and terrace, although I strongly suspect Bella considers this an unnecessary restriction on her professional duties.

After all, how is a respectable squirrel hunter supposed to do her job when someone keeps putting fences in the way? 🤣🐾

It’s moments like these that make me laugh, even when life feels overwhelming.

I have learned that humour can be an anchor when everything around us becomes chaotic.

We spend so much time in search of happiness, believing we must achieve something extraordinary to find it.

Yet happiness often hides in the smallest things.

A kind word.

A warm embrace.

A song that touches the soul.

The comfort of knowing someone cares.

Or watching a determined little dog wage war against a squirrel who probably has absolutely no idea what all the fuss is about.

Of course, life isn’t always sunshine and laughter.

There are difficult days, responsibilities that seem endless, and moments when fear inhibits us from doing the things we truly want.

But I refuse to let those moments define my entire existence.

And yes, occasionally I might spaz out over something completely ridiculous.

Especially when technology refuses to cooperate, the cats bring home unexpected visitors, or Bella decides that one of my socks would make an excellent trophy.

Between the animals, the squirrels, and the occasional household disaster, there is rarely a shortage of entertainment around here.

Perhaps that’s the secret.

We don’t need a perfect life to experience beautiful moments.

We just need to recognise them when they arrive.

Sometimes happiness is found in the quiet.

Sometimes in music.

Sometimes in a cup of coffee.

And sometimes it’s standing on your terrace, laughing at a dog who firmly believes the squirrels are plotting against her.

So today, I’m choosing laughter, music, coffee, and whatever little adventure comes my way.

And if another squirrel appears?

Well, Bella will undoubtedly be the first to announce its arrival.

Because sometimes the best anchor in life is the ability to laugh through the chaos. 💜✨
